What is Glycolic acid
Probably the best-known naturally occurring
fruit acids or alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA).
Glycolic acid is
derived from natural sugar cane.
Glycolic acid removes dead skin cells. Glycolic
acid has the smallest molecular structure of any AHA and can therefore
penetrate the surface of the skin.
The use of AHAs to improve the appearance of the
skin dates back to Egyptian and Roman times, Cleopatra bathed in sour
milk containing naturally occurring AHAs to keep her skin soft and smooth.
Glycolic acid is not suitable for sensitive
skins this is mainly due to the tiny size of the molecule which can penetrate
